How to Decide Which Birding Tours Are Right for You

There are many types of birding tours and just as many companies that offer these tours. The key to choosing a tour that you will enjoy is finding one that fits your particular needs.

The first consideration when searching for a birding tour is location. Since most tour companies offer tours worldwide, it is best to narrow down your choices by location. For a serious bird watcher, a trip to Finland to see a rare bird might be the best idea but for a new bird watcher, a trip to Oregon or somewhere closer to home might be best.

Cost is another consideration. Local tours are the least expensive and are a better bargain for beginners. Local tours can either include over night stays or just consist of day trips to local parks. Exotic locale tours or multiple day tours are more expensive and better suited to serious bird watchers.

Wings, Bird Treks and Eagle Eye Tours are all companies that specialize in local and worldwide birding tours. Moat packages include airfare, lodging, meals, tour materials and transportation. Depending on the tour destination and length, these tours can cost anywhere between five hundred and eight thousand dollars.

No matter which tour you choose to go on, it is important to know the basics. Almost all tours require walking or hiking as part of the agenda, so it is best to choose one that fits your fitness level. Also, most tours do not supply binoculars or scopes so you will have to bring your own. Other things to bring include a hat for sun protection, a camera and a first aid kit.

By knowing what to look for and researching different birding tours you are sure to find one that meets your needs.
